Osmosis naturally moves salt from a low-saline area to a high-saline one, aiming for equal concentration on both sides. Reverse osmosis does the opposite. It starts by filtering feed water through pre-filters to remove particles and solids. Then, it passes through a water softener tank to protect membranes from hardness. Next, it goes through the RO machine, where porous membranes remove remaining particles, allowing only water to pass while rejecting salts, solids, and other contaminants. Finally, purified water emerges, and rejected substances are drained.
